Science through Shadows: Humanity Touches The Sun

On December 24, 2024, Parker Solar Probe will make its closest approach to the Sun. At a speed of 430,000 miles per hour, or more than 100 miles per second, this spacecraft is the fastest object ever created by humans! Learn how Parker is helping scientists unravel the mysteries of the Sun’s corona in this episode of Science Through Shadows.

This series is a NASA-funded Science Activation project about using shadows to conduct astronomy research. Our Fiske production team (in collaboration with the Chabot Space & Science Center and the Michigan Science Center) is producing and distributing short videos about eclipses, occultations, and transits for this multi-year project. All full dome videos will be provided FREE in both English and Spanish, as well as 2D rectilinear format (for libraries, classrooms, and streaming platforms).

Download Humanity Touches the Sun or preview the 2D version on our YouTube channel. The fulldome masters (1K, 2K, and 4K) are available for FREE download.

Journey to the binary stars with AIDA

Join the journey of space travelers Ernest and Aida to find out why the binary stars hold such a major role in understanding the objects in the Universe.

Binary stars have been observed by astronomers for centuries. What was not known at the time was that they were the key to understanding the nature of the behavior of objects in the Universe. Centuries of observation have led to the formulation of physical models that describe their behavior. As space travelers Ernest and Aida approach the nearest binary star in our galaxy, the story of binary stars unfolds.
