Planetarians helping Planetarians

Presenting Two Small Pieces of Glass in Uruguay

There is a wide number of resources available to planetariums. What are they and where can they be found?

This section provides an overview on what is currently available, including a worldwide vendor list and lists of educational resources.

Vendors can update their listing in the IPS Resource Directory using the online Resource Directory Update Form.

IPS Resource Directory
Where does one find a traditional show kit for a children's school show, information on a replacement star projector, or what new digital projection systems are available? Look here for a listing, which is separated by categories of products.

(Please note: this listing of vendors does not imply endorsement of any specific company, product, or service on the part of the International Planetarium Society. It is provided for informational purposes only.)

Educational and Research Resources

Some planetarians make their proven educational resources available to other facilities. Perhaps the next great class exercise that you've been looking for use in the classroom, or planetarium, is located here. Also included are links to planetarium research.

Free Media

  • Free Music and Links to Sources of Music for Sale
  • A variety of sources of music for planetariums, some free and some not. Some music resources are available only to members.
  • Movies, Animations, and Video
  • The use of video has become a necessity of the modern planetarium theater. This link will take you to the flat screen resources.
  • Fulldome Movies, Clips, and Programs
  • From a variety of sources, there are many fulldome programs available at no charge (or minimal charge for mailing and other cost recovery charges).
  • LIPS
  • Resources for presenting live, interactive planetarium shows

Fulldome Production Resources

There are more domes with fulldome projection now than without. If you're new to spherical projection or a veteran just looking for material, this is the page for you.
