IPS holds elections for officers every two years and board members every 2 or 3 years.
The 2020 IPS Elections
Nominations are open for the positions of President Elect, Secretary and Treasurer for 2021-22. Martin George, Chair of the Elections Committee, is keen to receive nominations, which can be sent to him at .
As the 2020 IPS Conference has been cancelled, nominations will now close on 2020 September 2 at 12h Universal Time, in accordance with the IPS Standing Rules. We ask that acceptances by nominees are received by, at the latest, one day later. To replace the speech that would have been made at the IPS Conference, all nominees are asked to submit a video file of a 3-minute speech, which will be accessible to all members via the IPS website. Nominees who have accepted a nomination at any time before the closing date are encouraged to prepare their video as soon as possible.
It is important to note that this election is quite separate from the election of Board Members, which took place near the end of 2019. The Board Members and Officers (including the President and Past President) will meet in Edmonton before the 2020 IPS Conference.
The IPS election process is your chance, as a member, to have your say in who you would like to see filling these important positions, and how the IPS is run.
Note that the terms of office for Secretary and Treasurer are two years each, but the office of President Elect will be followed by two years as President in 2023-24 and two years as Past President in 2025-26.
The Secretary and Treasurer may hold office for up to three consecutive terms.
Any members interested in standing for one of these positions are welcome to contact Martin George at the email address above to discuss the duties of IPS Officers.
