IPS holds elections for officers every two years and board members* every 2 or 3 years.

Nominations for officers and board members are submitted to Martin George, Chair, IPS Elections Committee, at and cc'd to the IPS Secretary, Patty Seaton, at If you contemplate making a nomination, please first discuss your proposed nomination with the intended nominee.

In regions covered by an IPS affiliate, nominations for board members must be done through the officers of that affiliate body. IPS Affiliate groups are listed on the IPS Affiliates page. In regions not covered by an affiliate, individual members may make nominations directly for people within their continental zone.

* The Board consists of the IPS officers and up to three board members from each of the following six geographic zones: Africa, North America, Latin America (including South America, Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean), Asia, Europe (including Russia), and Oceania. The number of board members are:
1 for zones with fewer than 50 current IPS members;
2 for zones with between 50 and 499 current IPS members; and
3 for zones with 500 or more IPS members.
