...was created to be the "front door" to NASA for the world of museums and planetariums. Comprised of and targeting all types of planetarium staff, from entry level presenters to leadership, the Alliance is the starting point for all planetarians looking for NASA content. Membership is completely free, and offers benefits such as hundreds of NASA resources, live and archived professional development, and a marketing platform to NASA fans world-wide. Finally, the Alliance is a primary advocate for planetariums to NASA leadership, telling the leadership what NASA resources our members use and need the most. So, get your voice heard on how NASA can help you further engage and grow your audiences. To join the Alliance - https://informal.jpl.nasa.gov/museum/About/Application.
Solar System Ambassadors (SSA)
...is a public outreach program designed to work with motivated volunteers across the world. These volunteers communicate the excitement of NASA’s space exploration missions and information about recent discoveries to people in their local communities.
Launched in October 1998, this site strives to be a real-time, living encyclopedia of robotic exploration of our solar system. This site is produced for NASA's Science Mission Directorate by the Solar System Science Communications Team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory with the goal of providing the public, students and teachers with reliable, accurate, up-to-date planet and mission information and create a complete historical record of deep space exploration.
Night Sky Network (with the Astronomical Society of the Pacific)
The Night Sky Network is a nationwide coalition of amateur astronomy clubs bringing the science, technology, and inspiration of NASA's missions to the general public. We share our time and telescopes to provide you with unique astronomy experiences at science museums, observatories, classrooms, and under the real night sky.
Universe Discovery Guides
The NASA Astrophysics Science Education & Public Outreach Forum is sharing a set of 12 Universe Discovery Guides (nightsky.jpl.nasa.gov/news-display.cfm?News_ID=611), useful for museum and planetarium educators year-round, but particularly as you may be preparing programming for Astronomy Day and other events. Each contains an interpretive story about the month's science topic written to be accessible to the public, connections to NASA science, and an astronomical sky feature(s) to observe that is associated with the monthly topic. Each has a "Try This!" section where media and strategies useful in conveying the science topic are shared, including hands-on activities that help the public further explore the monthly science topic.
NASA Space Place is geared toward elementary and pre-school level children, parents, and teachers. It is a joint effort by NASA, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, and International Technology and Engineering Education Association.
NASA's Image Access Home Page; the interface to the Planetary Image Archive (PIA) contained within the Planetary Data System Imaging Node. The home page graphic serves as a high-level entry point to the thousands of high-resolution images and their accompanying products which have been made available to the public from data returned by various JPL missions over the course of many years.
Space Telescope Science Institute
Amazing Space is the Education Group of the Space Telescope Science Institute's Office of Public Outreach, which promotes the science and majestic beauty of the universe to the education community. The materials for educators and learners of all ages are accurate, instructionally sound, visually appealing, and carefully crafted to adhere to accepted educational standards.
HubbleSource is a growing collection of resources for educators, developers, interpreters, producers, and other professionals in museums, planetariums, nature centers, observatory, and park visitor centers, and other free-choice learning venues. It is one component of the public outreach effort at the Space Telescope Science Institute.
HubbleSite is produced by the Space Telescope Science Institute's Office of Public Outreach. The home of Amazing Space, ViewSpace, videos, and, of course, the spectacular Hubble images.
The Office of Education at Goddard Space Flight Center is driven by the NASA agency Education Vision “To advance high quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education using NASA’s unique capabilities." It focuses on a continuum of developmental experiences for students from pre-k to post-doctoral fellows that begins with inspiration then engagement then education and moves towards workforce development.
