IPS COVID-19 Mini Grants

This was a special call for proposals to assist planetariums and planetarians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Application deadline was 7 May 2020.

Mini-grants of $500 each: Six for planetariums in Emerging Communities through the Star Partners Fund and four through the Armand Spitz Educational Fund to support planetariums and planetarians moving educational activities online during the pandemic.

IPS COVID-19 Mini-Grant Award Winners

Thank you to everyone to took the time and effort to submit an application to the IPS's COVID-19 mini-grant call. We received 45 proposals from all around the world which were reviewed by a members of IPS's COVID-19 Task Force. Due to the number and quality of these proposals, the IPS decided to allocate additional funds so that we could award 14 mini-grants. This is four more than the 10 we had originally announced.

The 14 awarded grants come from 14 different countries and all of the IPS's continental zones.

  • North Museum of Nature and Science, United States
  • Irkutsk Planetarium, Russia

I would also like to remind you that applications to the IAU's Office of Astronomy for Development's call for COVID-19 related proposals are due tomorrow (Friday, May 15th). The IPS would also like to thank the African Planetarium Association for financially contributing to this call which enabled the funding of more awards. You can apply to that here.
