III.  Accomplishments of the Committee

The Committee suggested Awards and Fellows for the 2016 Conference to IPS Council in Montreal in August 2015. Following the decision of the IPS Council, 1 glass crystal Award for the Technology and Innovation Award, a President's glass crystal Award, and 4 Fellow diplomas have been prepared for IPS'16 in Warsaw in June 2016.

Also undertook the task to suggest:

  • The introduction of IPS Honorary/Commemorative medals.
  • The replacement of the existing IPS Service/Past President/Technology and Innovation Awards trophy with a new one.
  • New IPS Planetarium Show Awards.

The discussion for these suggestions is moving forward.

IV. Future Goals of the Committee

The Committee will invite IPS members to nominate Awardees and Fellows well in time for the Council meeting in 2017, to be given during IPS’18 in Toulouse. We suggest this is done in Planetarian 4-2016 followed by reminders by email to Affiliate Representatives during spring 2017.

Finalize the tasks undertaken regarding new medals, trophies and Awards.

Suggest the relevant modifications to the IPS Standing rules and By-Laws regarding the IPS Awards based on the IPS Council decisions on the proposals.

V. Budget Requirements

No budget requirements for 2017. It will also depend on IPS Council decisions regarding the proposed changes in Awards etc. The actual expenses for 2015 were US$400 (300$ for the two glass awards and 100$ for postage and packaging).
