Center is looking for a Planetarium Coordinator.
SUMMARY: The Planetarium Coordinator will be responsible running the
day-to-day operations of the Dorrance Planetarium, setting up and
performing planetarium shows, troubleshooting for technical problems,
planetarium maintenance, creation of visuals for the planetarium,
training planetarium presenters and volunteers on all planetarium
policies, procedures, and show presentation techniques, and coordinating
with staff from other areas and departments to ensure that the
planetarium is ready for all events and presentations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
* Preparing the planetarium for shows by setting up proper visuals
and programs.
* Presenting shows to audiences.
* Trains Planetarium Presenters and Ushers in show techniques,
planetarium maintenance, troubleshooting, and procedures
* Correcting technical problems.
* Passing along recommendations based on observations of shows.
* Works directly with the Director of Theater Experience on visual
development.
* Reviews the planetarium presentations and works with the
Director of Theaters Experience to keep quality consistently high.
* Ensures that all equipment in planetarium is maintained in first
class condition at all times.
* Coordinates with staff from other departments and areas to
ensure that the planetarium is prepared for all events and
presentations.
* Works with the Director of Theaters Experience to plan and
execute the long range goals and plans for the planetarium.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages presenters in the planetarium and
carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include
training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising
performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints
and resolving problems.
