Keeping in touch

Because most planetarians are separated by considerable distances, we keep in contact with each other through a number of electronic resources.

The best known and most active is Dome-L, the IPS-sanctioned, but privately-run e-mail based daily information service for the world's planetarians.

Subscription to Dome-L is open to anyone with an active interest in the planetarium profession. Free and open discussion is encouraged and essential.

To subscribe, simply go to Planetarium Network and follow the instructions.

Rovy Branon, the current Dome-L moderator, reserves the right to refuse the posting of any article submitted to the list (but will give suggestions on how to make it acceptable).

Postings to Dome-L are welcome by commercial subscribers (vendors), but only as newsworthy items, and not just ad copy. If you have any questions about this, or any other issue pertaining to Dome-L, write to Rovy at .

See selected Dome-L Discussions.

Another popular list is the Fulldome Video Discussion Group, a private group of members of the planetarium, computer graphics, and visualization community interested in fulldome video technology.

The list is moderated by Ryan Wyatt at; find out more at fulldome, "a site for the hemispherically obsessed."
