II. Committee Chair and Committee Members – on the committee web page
III. Accomplishments of the Committee
The Committee has presented an immersive sound workshop at IPS Warsaw and requested to always include a workshop at conferences, the next being Toulouse.
Our committee is now acting a team, as of the presentation of immersive sound in Warsaw. We work to facilitate conversion between immersive sound formats and from surround, stereo and mono to immersive format.
We welcome participants and contributors to the newly forming immersive sound 101, workshops and courses on two levels:
- a. for owners, specifiers, content makers, presenters
- b. for hands on users in making content -available with course credit
IV. Future Goals of the Committee
We are creating a road show - Immersive Sound Workshop - with all our systems demonstrated in rendered form. MorrowSound is providing a portable 8.1 system.
The road show seeks to present at continuing IPS meetings, IT3D, Ix Symposium, selected dome fests, and by appointment at planetariums, such as the committed California Academy of Science.
We actively embrace content makers to show work and to share workflow.
V. Budget Requirements
We carry our own expenses.
An informal survey conducted at IPS Warsaw among professionals showed that many see no value in immersive sound. We must sonically enlighten our field through demonstrations how to convert mono, stereo and surround product to immersive formats.
Our committee is now acting as team, as of the presentation of immersive sound in IPS Warsaw,
The team is pleased to sonically spotlight immersive sound experiences and workflows We work to facilitate conversion between immersive sound formats and expansion from surround, stereo and mono to immersive formats. This is to foster new and broader audiences by exploiting the entire catalogue of planetarium works in planetariums and VR.
