Function: To help planetarium professionals and those interested in developing planetariums gain the knowledge and backgrounds necessary to manage a professional operation.
This
committee will be responsible for:
researching profiles of planetarium jobs...
following and documenting the history and statistics of planetarium
jobs...
being available to give recommendations to candidates and
institutions regarding profiles and applications...
collecting job-offers from a variety of sources (including the
Internet)...
notifying members who look for jobs quickly (via email and a webpage
linked to the IPS website)...
supporting courses, training programs, internships and
workshops/seminaries for students and planetarians...
finding possible sources for funding of such training programs on an
international level...
presenting results for discussion at IPS conferences, in our Journal
(and perhaps even in separate Special Publications)...
outlining the general aspects of planetarium management and a business approach to planetarium operation.
providing guidance to individuals interested in becoming involved in the planetarium field.
