I. Function of the Committee
To help those interested in the use of portable planetariums and to provide a support system to assist portable planetarium users.
II. Accomplishments of the Committee
Each year since 1991 two or three mini conferences (PIPS Meetings) have taken place in the USA for portable and small stationary planetariums.
All but five IPS Portable Planetarium Handbooks have been distributed. Karrie Bergland, Digitalis Education Solutions Inc., offered to help work on a revised handbook in the future.
Future Goals of the Committee
Forth European Meeting of Itinerant Planetaria was held in 6-8 September 2007 in the Slovak Republic and hosted by Marián Vidovenec. It was held at Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia. www.suh.sk/ips2007
A new editor for the Planetarian columnwas not found so Susan Button will remain editor and asks all Council Representatives for input and material to put in the column. We will continue to seek contact people in each regional affiliate and news of their activities for publication in the Planetarian.
We, again, would like to encourage the IPS affiliates to include information of interest to portable planetarium directors in each of their newsletters and at regional conferences.
We are compiling a list of portable planetarium dealers and trying to get together a chart, which compares all the relevant attributes of each model.
IV. Budget Requirements
$100 for printing and mailing materials.
